A nice day...

For several years, every time I go to Astoria, OR I’ve passed the Maritime Museum. It always intrigued me, but I never found the time to stop and go in.

Well, this last weekend, I finally got the chance to go in and see it!

Some dear friends joined me and my wife for lunch at Buoy Beer and then we went to the museum.

There was a lot of information about the Coast Guard, the “bar” and how treacherous it can be. There was also a brief tour of the “Columbia”, an old light boat. Turns out this boat anchored about 6 miles out from the bar to warn ships. It had lights that could be seen for 15 miles and fog horns that could be heard for 5. Who knew?

Overall, a great day with great friends and my wonderful wife!

...and another thing

Just trying to keep it going. This post is written from my phone to see how it works. So far, so good. If I can make it through with limited errors, it might be any easy way to keep more regular updates coming.

Shall we try again?

Looking to see if I can get this blog going again... My primary plan will be to talk about my motorcycle rides this summer. I hope to keep it going beyond that, but we'll have to see.

I'm going to do my best not to make this blog a venting area as I'd like to keep it fun and light and focused on the adventure and beauty that is this great world we live in. If I can get my act together, I may even share some of the trips I've gone on since I last wrote.

Anyway, just trying to get started with a little intro. If you don't see anything new for a while, either I'm not doing anything fun, or I forgot to write about it.
